passed away at the age of 87. He resided in Clovis, California.
Wolfgang was born on February 25, 1933 in Magdeburg, Germany to bakers Otto and Frieda Baske
Schubert.
A passionate adventurer, Wolfgang traveled throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and North America in the
1950s and 1960s. He fell in love with the San Francisco Bay Area, made it his home, and began a 25-year
career in the baking and confectionary field. On August 8, 1975, Wolfgang married Carolyn J. Hathaway
and together they raised two daughters, Deborah and Claudine.
Wolfgang was a generous soul and always jovial. He loved to meet new people and learn about their
culture and travels and was quick to smile and laughter. He enjoyed humor and comedy, math puzzles,
crosswords and scrabble, which also help expand his English. Wolfgang cherished all Bay Area sports
teams but had a special place in his heart for his San Francisco Giants.
Wolfgang was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Horst. He is survived by his wife
Carolyn, his children Deborah and Claudine, his stepson Cliff, daughter-in-law Margaret, grandchildren
Hannah and Hailey, and remaining German relatives.
A Memorial Service and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date due to gathering restrictions.
