

Arthur J. Haas of Lake Jackson, Tx., 72, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Kindred Hospital, Sugar Land, Tx after a courageous battle with the insidious disease, inclusion body myositis. It took his body but not his mind and he bore this with grace and dignity beyond belief. Art was a graduate of LSU (BS) and SUNY, Binghamton (MBA). Art was an avid golfer in the past and made many friends playing that game he so loved. His bridge club friends of 28 years have been a mainstay in his life, especially during his illness. He was employed as an engineer at Intermedics for 20 years prior to its closing. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Anne M. Haas, and three sons, Arthur (Jennifer), of Houston, John of London, England, and David (Jean Nam) of Sudbury, Ma and his much loved grandson, Cooper Haas of Sudbury. In addition, he is survived by his two brothers, Jim of Espanola, NM and Bill (Sharron) of Omaha, NE. as well as sisters-in-law Patricia Mallon, Ardmore, Pa. and Eileen Mallon, Drexel Hill, Pa. Visitation will be at 10 AM at St. Michael’s Church, Lake Jackson, Tx followed by a funeral mass celebrated at 11 AM, on Saturday, August 18, 2012 . His ashes will be interred In Holy Seplucher Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pa at some future time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Myositis Association or St. Michael’s Church.
