

Billy Ray Bergen, born May 10, 1945, in Wharton, TX, passed away unexpectedly at home August 28, 2021. Bill grew up working on the family farm and attending school in Needville, TX. After high school, he attended Wharton County junior College. Bill married Sherry Jo Hajdik of Rosenberg, TX on February 20, 1966. They had one daughter, Shawn Christine.
Bill worked for Gulf States Tube after college. He then started a career with Western Auto in Houston, TX. In 1978, Bill purchased a Western Auto store in Freeport, TX. He owned and operated the business with his wife until his passing.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Bergen and his mother, Alice Bergen, both of Needville, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sherry Hajdik Bergen; their daughter, Shawn and husband Kurt; grandchildren, Colton and Kiersten, Kenzi, Hunter, Carrington, and Haley; his sister, Lynnette Miller and her children Scott Miller and Stacy Fleming. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation and Rosary will be Tuesday, September 7, 2021from 5-7pm at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation Dr, Clute, TX.
Bill's service will be held at St. Micheal the Archangel Catholic Church, 100 Oak Dr South, Lake Jackson on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 10AM with lunch to follow. He will then be laid to rest at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg, TX.
