Carlos Alberto Martinez
“Blessed are the pure in heart;
for they shall see God”
Matthew 5:8
Carlos Alberto Martinez “SR”, 59, left this earth peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. Carlos was surrounded by his loving wife, Cynthia, their daughter, Charissa, son, Carlos Jr. and their daughter-in-love, Myra Martinez. He attended Brazosport High School and was a member of the Class of 1979.
Carlos was the Branch Manager for Triplex, Inc., and took great pride in making sure that their customers were never disappointed in their product. Carlos will be greatly missed by the tons of friendships he made over the past twenty plus years. He loved and valued his Triplex family.
He was a softball coach for way too many years to count and a Freeport Softball Association board member. Carlos began his umpiring and baseball coaching career at Gary Park. He assisted from the ground up, with the building of the Freeport Little League field and then went on to become President of the League. He then served as a Freeport City Councilman and Freeport EDC committee member. Each of these dedications of service opened doors to long lasting and valuable friendships with so many that will greatly miss him.
Carlos loved fishing, hunting, camping and his favorite part of each was the opportunity of “just” sitting and visiting. There are many things his family and friends are saddened about with his passing, but a huge one is the fact that they will no longer get to eat his “made from scratch” chicken and dumplings, his award winning brisket, and his daughter-in-love’s favorite; meatloaf. His smile was largest when he was surrounded with family and friends and it gave him great joy to host holidays.
Carlos is preceded in death by his loving father and mother, Lino and Ester Martinez, brother, Gary Martinez Sr., father-in-law, Santos Valdez Jr. and his precious granddaughter, Charlie Jane.
In addition to his family he leaves behind to cherish his memory, brothers, Lino & Rocky, Robert & Norma, Andy & Shawna Martinez, family in-law, Adrian & Francis Valdez, Sandra & David Watson, Sonya & Cris Moreno and his mother-in-law, Mary Valdez; many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

At 7:00-8:00 p.m. family and friends will be allowed to pass through to offer their condolences. (Within allowable capacity) Masks and social distancing are required.
