Thinking of the Johnson family as you say your final goodbyes today. Keeping you all in my prayers and sending condolences. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with all who knew Darriel. I never had a chance to meet him but feel like I know him through many conversations that I’ve had with his amazing daughter, Holly, over the years. Holly is a friend and business partner and he raised an amazing daughter. From what I know, she inherited his qualities of resolve, strength and conviction. God bless and please accept my family’s condolences.

May my uncle Darriel rest in peace. He was a one of a kind "man's man".
I wasn't able to spend as much time with him as I would have liked to while I was growing up. He was always full of excellent stories that he shared with me when I was able to visit. My uncle Darriel and aunt Donna were some of my favorite people to spend time with. I will miss them always. Your nephew Bradley  Clark.

To the Best Big Brother ever-
I am so thankful that we were able to spend some quality time together the last two years.  We told each other a lot of old stories that brought back a lot of memories.  Try as I may, I could never top your stories.  In our younger years we spent many nights sitting around the deer camp enjoying each other's company and a "shot or two of Jack Daniels".  Your hunting skills needed a little work but your skills as a fisherman are legendary.  You're the only man I know who caught a 37 pound and a 57 pound catfish on a rod and reel at Dow Reservoir.  
Your love of fast cars always intrigued me.  That 1954 Ford retired police cruiser sure looked good after we brush painted it a beautiful  shiny black.   I remember washing it just before you sold it, the wash job helped hide the paint brush marks! 
 I remember one of our fishing trips on a charter boat out of Galveston and how rough the water was that day.  About half of the people were really sick and wanted to turn the boat around.  So, the captain called for a show of hands of those wanting to go back.  When he took the vote for continuing the trip there were some upset people when I broke the tie vote.  They said my vote didn't count because I was just a teenager.  You called BS on that because I had paid for my ticket just like them.  We enjoyed seeing those folks spend a lot of time "discussing the weather" over the back rail.  
I was always in awe of your work ethic and the long hours and dedication you gave to your career in the grocery business.
I wish we had spent more time together, but I am thankful for all the good times we had.

Our condolences go out to the Johnson family.  Darriel was the brother of my sister-in-law Doris Clark and brother-in-law Roger D. Clark, and nephews Bradley and Scott Clark.
Darriel is now reunited with the family that has predeceased him and may he Rest in Peace.

We only had the pleasure of meeting Darriel one time in almost 20 years.  We knew him better as "Holly's dad".  Holly is our great friend and business partner since 2003.  Darriel raised an amazing, smart, tough and loving daughter.  He is smiling down on the one he cared for and the one that tirelessly cared for him.

DARRIEL WAS A THOUGHTFUL BROTHER-IN-LAW!  IN OUR YOUNGER YEARS, HE WAS VERY PROTECTIVE OF HIS SISTER AND WAS ALWAYS CONCERNED ABOUT HER HAPPINESS AND SAFETY.  HE WAS A PRIVATE PERSON AND SELDOM SHARED HIS FEELINGS OR EMOTIONS.  IN FACT, ONE HAD TO TRY HARD TO DECIPHER WHAT WAS ON HIS MIND OR CONCERNS.  HE WAS A TOUGH SUPERVISOR BUT HIS SUBORDINATES ALWAYS KNEW HE WAS WITH THEM AND THEY HAD HIS SUPPORT.  HE HAD INTEGRITY AND PERSISTED EVEN WHEN IT COULD BE TO HIS DETRIMENT.  HE ALWAYS SHARED HIS IDEAS AND THOUGHTS WITH HIS WIFE (DONNA) AND SUPPORTED HER ENDEAVORS.  ALTHOUGH HIS CHARACTERISTICS WERE NOT EASILY RECOGNIZED, HE REALLY HAD A HEART OF GOLD.  HE WAS ALWAYS PROUD OF HIS FAMILY AND A GREAT PROVIDER.  HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL!

To my awesome uncle.  Shocked to the hear the news.  May you rest in peace next to your wife Donna, my wonderful aunt.  I will miss you.  Until we meet again down the road.
