

Donald was married to his late wife Dorothy for over 53 years before her passing in 2011. They loved spending time with all their family, and friends that were like family. They loved to camp in their travel trailer and took many trips over the years with family and friends, especially their beloved friend group that used to call themselves the wild bunch.
Donald was a boiler maker/welder for Dow Chemical for 30 years before retiring. He was a hardworking man that was good with his hands, and his kids believe he could fix or make just about anything that he put his mind to. Donald was a founding member of Circle B Cookers barbeque cookoff team and part of many fond memories made over 30 years of BBQ cookoff events. Donald was lifelong fisherman who enjoyed running trot lines in his boat. He enjoyed playing dominos and cards. He was a loving father and uncle that really enjoyed family get-togethers. More than anything he loved being a Papa, spending time with his granddaughters and attending every sporting event, school activity, and milestones that he could.
Donald is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Jean Bowers, parents Jesse & Leona Bowers, brother Jessie Jr Bowers & wife Cherry, sister Bobbie Knapp & husband Larry, sister Charlene Keen & husband Bill, as well as other family members and close friends.
Donald is survived by children: Derek Bowers of Lake Jackson, Dianne Swindle & husband Todd of Lake Jackson, and Denise Echols & husband Mark of Angleton, and granddaughters: Haylee & Laynee Echols; great-grandchildren Ainsley & Landon Craimer; step-grandchildren Joshua, Caleb, & Nathan Swindle, and 11 step-great grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Donald’s life will be at Restwood Funeral Home at 1038 W. Plantation Dr, Clute, TX, at 10am on Wednesday, March 20th officiated by Ted Bowers. Visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral Home from 5-7pm on Tuesday, March 19th.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Bowers, Dennis Bowers, Erik Bowers, Jacob Bowers, Aaron Bowers, Teddy Bowers, Ryan Bowers, and Steve Glidden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Bowers, Ted Bowers, Richard Simpson, and Michael Thornberg.
