Edmonia passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018, in Cedar Park, Texas. She was born December 27, 1930, in Taft, Texas. She was the oldest of four children born to Walter and Susie O’Neal Shedd. Edmonia married D.R. Lightfoot on June 1, 1950, in Sinton, Texas. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Freeport where they lived through 1958. She and D.R. moved to Lake Jackson in 1960. They were blessed with two children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Edmonia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a former member of the Lake Jackson Church of Christ.
As an assistant secretary working in Brazosport ISD, Edmonia spent most of her tenure at Elizabeth Ney Elementary School. She loved children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Richard Lightfoot and wife Brenda of Tiki Island, TX, son Dean Lightfoot and wife Becky of Cedar Park, TX; grandchildren Lauren Lightfoot, Claire Lightfoot Rudy, Benjamin Lightfoot, Jessica Bosley, and Rachel Lightfoot Cobern; great-grandchildren Starla Rudy and Nolan Cobern.
Edmonia is preceded in death by her devoted husband D.R., brother Ronald Shedd, and parents Walter and Susie Shedd.
Visitation for Edmonia Shedd Lightfoot, 87, of Cedar Park, Texas, is scheduled for Saturday, December 22, 2018, from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at Restwood Funeral Home, located at 1038 W. Plantation Dr. Clute, TX 77531. Immediately following visitation, the family will have a private graveside service at Restwood Memorial Park.
