Elizabeth Julia Ramsey Bartlett

Elizabeth Julia Bartlett, of Lake Jackson, was born , Thursday, October 6, 1927, the 5th of 8 children, to Coy C. and Mary “Maggie” Crocker Ramsey in San Augustine, Texas and died Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Lake Jackson at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 22 days.

She married Paul C. Bartlett, Sr, on January 1, 1948 in Palacios, Texas. After her marriage Elizabeth and Paul lived in Houston until they moved to Lake Jackson in 1949 where he started an automotive repair business. Elizabeth went to work for Dow Chemical as a legal secretary and in the early 1950’s she went to work with Paul to promote his automotive business, known as Bartlett Motor Company. In 1956 they switched their business from automotive repair to outboard motors. This business was well established and she and Paul became well known among the Lake Jackson business community.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Merle, Eugene, John and Benjamin Ramsey and a sister, Lenadene Johs.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul C. Bartlett, Sr. of Lake Jackson; children, Barbara Hennessy of Friendswood, Paul Carroll Bartlett, Jr. of the Woodlands, Bonnie Demland and her husband Michael of Brazoria; brother, Coy C. Ramsey, Jr. of Bay City; sister, Imogene Wheeler of El Campo; grandchildren, Jennifer Talley and Jonathon of Humble, Shawn Hennessy and Brittni of Webster, Paul Carroll Bartlett III of The Woodlands, Matthew Arlo Bartlett of The Woodlands, Courtney Elizabeth Bartlett of The Woodlands; great grandchildren, Kaylie Breanne Hennessy, Hannah Elizabeth Talley, Nathan Steven Talley of Humble, Dylan Michael of Webster; longtime family friend and “son”, Dr. David Y. Graham.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to Gloria Gomez and her family, Marica Gigic and her family and Ed Christman and his family for all their help and efforts for their Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Restwood Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Restwood Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Logan officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Park with Paul C. Bartlett Jr., Ed Christman, Michael Demland, Jerry Hennessy, Shawn Hennessy and Jonathan Talley serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
