Frank spent his childhood in the Gonzales area, and he met the love of his life, Miss Lucille Christen, on a New Year's Eve blind date in Yoakum, Texas. Drafted into the Army in March of 1951, Frank transferred to the Army Reserve in March 1953 as a sergeant before being honorably discharged in November 1956.
Frank and Lucille married on April 22,1953, just one month after his return home. They made their home in Yoakum, but later moved to Hallettsville, where Frankie Jr. was born. After a move to Edna, the Drabeks added another son, Donald, to complete their family.
December 1961 brought the family to Lake Jackson, where Frank began a career as an Operator at Dow Chemical, culminating in his retirement in 1992. They became active in St. Michaels Catholic Church, remaining so, as health allowed. A faithful servant of God, Frank raised his sons to be good men, inspired by their father’s example. His broad smile, tender heart and kind spirit will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Frank Anton Drabek was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Drabek, his brothers John and Albin Drabek, and sister Mary Drabek Tomas.
Left to cherish Frank’s memory are his bride, Lucille Christen Drabek, his brother, Tony Drabek, and children Frankie Drabek Jr. (Lorenda) and Donald Ray Drabek (Kerry). He adored his grandchildren, Tonya Marie Dunn (DuWayne), Chara Michelle Tipp (Terry), Andrea Kay Drabek-Guice (Colby), Erin Michelle Spoor (Jeff), and Michael Ryan Drabek. Frank loved to laugh and play with his great-grandchildren, Ethan Dunn, Matthew Dunn, Callie Drabek-Smith, Chase Drabek-Cancino, Colten Guice, Ashton Guice, Sophie Guice, Hunter Spoor, and Hayden Spoor and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers include Michael Drabek, Darrell Thumann, Dean Thumann, Dale Thumann, Darrin Thumann, and Jimmy Drabek.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers who supported Frank and Lucille during his illness.
Visitation will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 100 Oak Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 10:00 am, with a rosary at 10:40 am and the funeral mass at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Lake Jackson, Texas.
