Gary Lynn Bartley wed Sylvia Elizabeth Franco Cortinas on April 29, 1994 at The Virgin Islands of the United States. Gary worked at the start up with Conoco, Dupont, Cain Chemical and Lydell as assistant Plant manager/Mechanical engineer.
Gary's greatest passion were old, beautiful cars. He participated in a few races himself. He raced in La Carrera Pan American race 2001 and the Chihuahua Express in Mexico. He also raced in the Roadrunner Open Road Race in 2007, and the Big Ben Open Road Race. Gary worked a sudoku every evening to help his brain stay active. He was a member of the MBCA for several years. He loved to travel and meet new people. Gary had a group of friends online who would called themselves The GOATS and he loved being in their discussions. He loved living on the San Bernard River. He had a love for The Tomaso Mangusta Italian car, which only 401 car were built. Gary owned one. After giving up driving, the Mangusta lives in Houston today with his buddy Mike Haney.
Preceding him in death is as follows: Parents, Ewell William Bartley and Lois; half sister, Betty Hoffreider;
and sister-in-law, Rachel Solis.
Gary is survived by Sylvia Bartley -spouse; Linda Bartley -Sister; Dennis Bartley -son; Ricardo Cortinas – raised as his son; Tina Cortinas – daughter in law; 2 grandchildren AJ Cortinas and Kayla Cortinas; 3 sister-in-laws Ruth Littlefield and spouse Travis; Ruby Franco; Becky Ortiz;. 2 nieces Marty deCarlos and spouse Jose; Felicia Neubig and spouse Pete.
Gary Bartley was a wonderful husband, and friend. Gary loved life. He enjoyed surfing the internet, travel, meeting new people, and he loved old music.
A visitation for Gary will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute, TX. A celebration of Gary's life will take place at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute, Texas at 2:00 pm and will be officiated by Alex Lopez from Bay City. Entombment will immediately follow at Restwood Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Cortinas, EJ Sanchez, Mike Haney, Michael Ortiz, Jose deCarlos, Doug Stone, Pete Neubig, Travis Littlefield. Honorary Jonathon Roger.
