George L. Kidwell

He was born in Olathe, Kansas on August 11, 1935, to George Albert and Katherine McKain Kidwell. He spent his youth in Olathe and graduated from Olathe High School. During these years he faithfully delivered the Kansas City Star newspaper twice a day.

After high school, George joined the United States Air Force, serving honorably for four years. Upon discharge, he enrolled at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. There he earned his degree in Chemical Engineering.

In 1959 he married his sweetheart, Bobbie Kennedy. After graduating from KState in 1962, they moved to Lake Jackson, Texas to work for the Dow Chemical Company. He remained at Dow in Texas until his retirement in 1995 with 33 years of good and loyal service.

George was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson where he has worn many hats serving as Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, RA leader and many more.

For 37 years he served with distinction as Board Member and many years as Chairman with the Velasco Drainage District.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Kennedy Kidwell, two sons Steven Kidwell (Kristy) of Lumberton, Brent Kidwell of Houston and daughter Andrea Keprta (Duane) of East Bernard, Texas/Lake City, Colorado. Five grandchildren, Kennedy Keprta, Ashlee Kidwell Strange (Michael), Alexander Keprta, Stevee Kidwell Guilbeaux (Brett), Andrew Keprta and five great-grandchildren. One sister, Bonnie Perkins of Olathe, Kansas.
