George Henry Sykora, 81, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away on March 21st, 2018. George was born on Mother’s Day to parents, John Sykora and Mary Senkyrik Sykora on May 10th, 1936 in Markham, Texas. George married his High School sweetheart, Joyce Plant in El Campo, Texas on September 3rd, 1955. They were blessed to have celebrated 62 years together last year. George proudly served in the United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
George worked for almost 35 years as a Planner Scheduler for Dow Chemical Company. He was a devoted employee and enjoyed his co-workers and was always proud to say he was a Dow Employee.
George loved spending time with his family. He was a wonderful Husband; Father; Brother; Uncle and Friend. He enjoyed spending time in Rockport boating; fishing and relaxing. He enjoyed Football and followed our local Buccaneers and El Campo Ricebirds always. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church since 1966. George was also a member of the American Legion Post 306. George was especially proud of his Czech Heritage. He was admired and loved by all ages for his kind ways and loving heart. Although George was not a “Grandfather”, he considered Bo McKenzie Wright; Makenzie & Dawson Scott as his Grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his newborn son, Philip; parents, John and Mary Sykora; brothers Johnnie and Raymond. He is survived by his wife, Joyce and daughter, Sonya (James) Wright; Sister’s, Jean(Bob)Rich; Mary Ann(Dexter)Polk; and many beloved Nieces; Nephews and Cousins.
