George Vargas

Our parents Ramon and Josefina Vargas were stationed in the Panama Canal Zones while serving in the United States Army. His life began in a place shaped by duty, discipline, and sacrifice — values he carried with him throughout his years.

Following in their footsteps, George later chose to serve his country as well, proudly joining the United States Air Force. His commitment to service wasn’t just a career choice; it was a continuation of a family legacy rooted in honor and dedication.

George was the second oldest of four brothers, Ramon Vargas Jr., George Vargas, Madeline Vargas, and Jose Vargas. But George was more than just our brother. He was a deeply cherished part of our lives, someone whose presence shaped our family and my heart in ways that only siblings can understand.

His nieces and nephews are Keith and wife Angela, Bradley and his wife Suzanne, Jonathan and his wife Andrea, Michael and his wife Gina, and Rachel.

Growing up, we lived in many places — Puerto Rico, California, Colorado, Germany, Kentucky, and Massachusetts — the full experience of being Army brats. When we eventually returned to Puerto Rico, George met and married Nereida Tirado, the mother of his two children, Yhana Ross and George Manuel, who are here with us today.

He was also blessed with two grandchildren as well, Yhan Nichol and Miangely Sofía. Miangely whom he lovingly called Mia, is also here with us today.

George has 10 great nieces and nephews: Aeden Ray Murphy, Grayson Drew Murphy, Gloria Beth Murphy, Carter James Copeland, Giavanna Mae Vargas, Michael Anthony Vargas, Mateo Ramon Vargas, Ryan Joseph Vargas, Kyle Jacob Vargas, Tyler Jameson Vargas, Andy James Vargas.

George also lived here in Texas where he married his second wife, Rose, of 23 years, whom we all miss very dearly.

Despite his physical disabilities and the suffering he endured later in life, George never let go of the faith in God that our parents instilled in him. God, who knew him before the foundation of the world, called him by name and chose him to follow Him; nothing, absolutely nothing, turned him away from his faith in our Father.

George, you were blessed with people who helped you along your journey. God bless each of you — you know who you are — thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Heavenly Father,

I thank You for Your endless love, mercy, and faithfulness throughout George’s life. Thank You for every blessing, every protection, and every moment Your grace carried him through.

Until the day of the Lord’s return the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you George; And with you all.
