Gregory Alan Mullen, 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Sargent, TX surrounded by family on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Born in Houston, Texas, on December 2, 1955, Greg was the third of five children to Odren and Berneice Mullen.
He grew up in the Spring Branch neighborhood of Houston and was a first-generation college graduate, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Houston in 1994, which led him to a successful career at Baker Hughes and ConocoPhillips.
Greg was a lifelong learner and had a passion for new experiences. He enjoyed cheering on his beloved Houston sports teams, boating, fishing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. He was known for his generous heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
Greg is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara Bailey Mullen; his daughter, Shelley Mullen McDermott (Adam Cooper McDermott); his grandchildren, Ruxton Cooper McDermott and Mabel Kay McDermott; his brother, Curtis L. Mullen; his sisters, Janice E. Lang and Robin G. Perry (Marty Perry); his aunt, Jo Walker; and his mother-in-law, Eleanor Bailey. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odren Jack Mullen and Berneice L. Mullen; his brother, Jack C. Mullen; and his grandparents, Willard and Estelle Luce; and his brother-in-law, James D. Lang.

Greg was a long-term member of the American Association of Drilling Engineers and the Coastal Conservation Association. His commitment to these organizations reflected his passion for engineering, conservation and the outdoors.
The family would like to extend special thanks for the care and compassion offered by the medical professionals of Houston Methodist Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, and IPH Home Health Care and Hospice.
A celebration of Greg's life will take place on November 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm allowing family and friends to gather, share memories, and celebrate the contributions he made to each of their lives.
