“Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant” Harold Earl Monical, Sr., 89 of Lake Jackson, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2025. Harold was born on May 9, 1936 in Grenola, Kansas to Lynn Leroy and Dorothy Pearl Monical.
Harold and his family moved to Lake Jackson in 1944 and he graduated from Brazosport High school in 1954. He continued his education at Texas A & M University and The University of Houston.
Harold was married to the love of his life, Barbara Arlean Penney, for 67 years. They made their home in Lake Jackson where they raised their children Tammi, Penny, and Harold Jr.
Before joining the family construction business he served in the United States Air Force. After being stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming for some time he and Barbara moved back to Lake Jackson where he began his life’s work and creating his legacy at US Contractors. Harold along with his brother and cousins created an incredibly special place that employed so many of our community members through the years.
He was currently on the Board of Directors of First National Bank Lake Jackson and also served as a Board of Regent for Brazosport College. He was a member of the Freemason Lodge #1317 for 67+ years.
He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson where he served as a deacon of the church, a Sunday School teacher, and on various committees. He was a crusader for Christ - always making sure those around him knew the Love of Christ and accepted Him as their Savior.
Harold loved traveling. He talked often of his early days in Grenola, Kansas and loved to go back and reminisce. Some of his favorite trips were traveling to the Holy Land, Alaska fishing, family trips to Disney World and Drowsy Water Dude Ranch. Most recent family trips were to the Cheyenne Frontier Day and Calgary Stampede Rodeos. He loved a good rodeo!
He was his happiest when ranching. He loved riding horses, raising cattle, and managing the Monical Brangus Ranch which has been enjoyed for decades by his family and friends. He loved being an Aggie fan and enjoyed going to the football games with his family.
The highlight of his life was his family. He truly enjoyed being a husband, dad, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Pearl Monical, his brother and sister-in-law Lynn Dennis and Deanna Monical and his first grandson Joshua Daigle.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Monical, his daughters Tammi (Buck) Blevins, Penny (Rod) Daigle, and son Harold (Natalie) Monical.
