Helene Ryan (Nina), 73, of Lake Jackson passed away on 9/5/2015 with her family beside her. Nina was born on September 21, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Louis and Phylisie Schroeder. Nina married the love of her life, Dexter Ryan, and celebrated 30 years of marriage.
Nina grew up on her family farm just outside of Cypress. She spent her youth barrel racing and working on the farm. She received her Associates Degree in business and spent several years as a receptionist for Chicago Bridge & Iron Company.
Nina, our “Community Angel” had a soul made of gold, always opening her heart and home to those in need. When not lending a helping hand to neighbors, family, and friends, she could be found on her boat with fishing pole in hand, soaking up the sun and enjoying the sound of the waves. Her greatest joys in life were listening to live country music, watching her daughter clog, and gardening with her loving husband. She was gifted with god’s greatest talent, that of bringing warmth and love to others. Even in her final moments, she exuded a comforting courageous grace.
She is survived by her loving husband Dexter Ryan, brother Mike Schroeder, sister Betty McNeil, and daughter Sherry Lin. Her extended family includes Mae Wong, Lana Nash, Pam Eidet, Sandy Ryan, Marvin Ryan and Robert Ryan and numerous grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Her loving caregiver, Maria Morgan, was devoted, gentle, and by her side. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and brother, Charles Schroeder.
Visitation & Funeral Services will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Weds 9/9/2015 (visitation beginning at 10am and services starting at 11am). A private burial will take place at the family resting place in Cypress.
