Jim King was born to Oradell and Nelson King, Jan 4, 1931 in Woden, Texas. Jim King married Christine Cook in Houston, Texas on September 4, 1954.
Jim King proudly served as a Staff Sargent in the United States Airforce from 1948 to 1952.
Jim King retired from his position as a Maintenance Supervisor for Dow Chemical after 38 years.
Jim King was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. As a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson for 63 years, he met many of his dearest friends and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for children. He believed one of the most important things besides being a Christian was being a good person. He valued kindness, humility, generosity, and equal opportunity for all. His wife, Christine was his lifelong love and best friend and they shared a passion for traveling through the US and Europe. His favorite places included the Philippines where he was stationed in the Airforce, Hawaii, and many frequent trips to Branson, Missouri which always included his brother, Tommy and wife Carolyn King. As a young man he enjoyed quail hunting, taking care of his family, and in his most recent years he loved meeting with his friends for weekly dominoes games and rooting for the Texans football team. Jim will be most remembered for his exemplary and tender care of his wife, Christine, during her final 13 years battling Alzheimer’s.
Jim King is preceded in death by wife Christine King, parents Nelson and Oradell King; brother Nelson King; Sister Joyce King; Sister Ursula “Sue” and husband William Robert Garner.
Jim King is survived by his daughter Karen Perry: son Kevin King, grand-daughter Katherine Perry; grand-son Benjamin Perry and wife Jessica and great grand-sons William and Luke Perry; brother Tommy and wife Carolyn King, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:30am.
Funeral Service will be held at the same location starting at 11:30am.
