James “Jim” Jeff King, 89, of Lake Jackson TX., peacefully passed away on July 18, 2020. Jim King was born to Oradell and Nelson King, Jan 4, 1931 in Woden, Texas. Jim King married Christine Cook in Houston, Texas on September 4, 1954.

Jim King proudly served as a Staff Sargent in the United States Airforce from 1948 to 1952. Jim King retired from his position as a Maintenance Supervisor for Dow Chemical after 38 years. Jim King was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. As a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson for 63 years, he met many of his dearest friends and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for children. He believed one of the most important things besides being a Christian was being a good person. He valued kindness, humility, generosity, and equal opportunity for all. His wife, Christine was his lifelong love and best friend and they shared a passion for traveling through the US and Europe. His favorite places included the Philippines where he was stationed in the Airforce, Hawaii, and many frequent trips to Branson, Missouri which always included his brother, Tommy and wife Carolyn King. As a young man he enjoyed quail hunting, taking care of his family, and in his most recent years he loved meeting with his friends for weekly dominoes games and rooting for the Texans football team. Jim will be most remembered for his exemplary and tender care of his wife, Christine, during her final 13 years battling Alzheimer’s.

Jim King is preceded in death by wife Christine King, parents Nelson and Oradell King; brother Nelson King; Sister Joyce King; Sister Ursula “Sue” and husband William Robert Garner. I always enjoyed spending time with Mr. and Mrs. King when they would visit Karen in Houston. Mr. King was the most devoted husband and father and the foundation of the family. Such a role model to look up to. It was so inspiring to witness the example he set for a life of supporting and loving his family no matter what the circumstances. It was clear that he was always ready to support his children and loved them completely and was incredibly loved in return. His life mattered so much and he will be deeply missed.

What a wonderful human being we lost. Always had a kind word . Sincere through and through. A great Uncle. A blessing in my life. Great brother to my dad. I will miss him. The world is diminished with his departure, but I thank God he is in the arms of his savior. There's not a better place to be . I grieve with you all. He will be missed.
