Jewel Kenneth Grant

Kenneth was born to Perry and Gladys Grant on May 29, 1930 in Hillsboro, Texas. He graduated from Hillsboro High

School and obtained degrees from Texas A & M (Whoop ’52) and from University of Houston (Eat ‘em up Coogs! ‘65).

He was a member of the Corps of Cadets while at Texas A&M and served in the United States Army. Kenneth was a

veteran of the Korean War. Obtaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant, Kenneth led a group after the war to rebuild a school.

After leaving the army, he moved to Lake Jackson where he met his wife of sixty-one years (Peggy). He worked at Dow

Chemical until his retirement in 1985. After retirement from Dow, he worked as a high school math teacher in Houston

ISD. After his retirement from HISD, he enjoyed wood working, and started a craft business with his wife, Peggy.

Kenneth enjoyed many hobbies and interests, especially playing dominoes, watching the Aggies, the Texans, and the

Astros. He also enjoyed showing up and using his time and talents to help others (teaching Sunday School, ushering at

Church, Assistant Softball Coach, Softball Coach, Church Bus Driver, Field Trip Volunteer, Camp Chaperone, Basketball

Coach, Basketball Referee, Royal Ambassador Leader, Gulf Coast Royal Ambassador Director, Boy Scout Volunteer,

Teaching Woodworking sessions at the prison).

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Gladys Grant, his sister, Nelda Reynolds, his brothers Jimmy Grant,

Charles Grant, and Jerry Grant.

Ken is survived by his brothers, Warren Grant, Don Grant, his sister-in-law, Debbie Hinkle and Judy Clifford, his daughter,

Kim (John) Bowlin, his grand-children, Matthew and Toby Bowlin and his son, Jeff Grant.

Services will be held at the Restwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park located at 1038 W. Plantation Drive, Clute, Texas

77531. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 8th and the service will begin at 11:00 AM.
