

Joe Emil Havlik was born in Lott, Texas, July 25, 1924. He passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010. Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 22 at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are schedule for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Restwood.
Mr. Joe Havlik served proudly in WWII and the Korean War. He achieved many accomplishments throughout his life, which included IGS/ASA Hall of fame for his work in the automotive industry. He also was a member of Brazoria County Fair Association, Brazoria County Trail Rider’s Association, and Texas Cattlemen’s Association.
Upon returning from the service, Joe Havlik founded Havlik’s Auto Service in 1950 and continued this operation until 1977 at which time, he established Havlik’s Dozer Works. During these years he also ran a horse and cattle operation in Sweeny, known as Somerset Ranch.
He is survived by his wife Norma Sue Havlik, also known as Susie; He left behind two special sons Burlon Murray and wife Rochelle, of Lake Jackson, Paul Murray and wife Cindy, of Angleton; three beloved grandchildren Dale Murray and wife Christi, of Lake Jackson, Amber Hickman and husband Sr. A Cody, of Abilene, and Brittany Murray of Angleton; two great-grandchildren Kyndall and Tyler Murray, of Lake Jackson; one brother William Havlik and wife Vlasta, of Temple; nieces and nephews Deborah, Patricia, and Billy of Temple, Alan and Mindy Davis along with their sons Brent, Brandon, and Matt, of Fort Worth, Dale Davis and wife Mary Ellen and their children Sara, Olivia, and Orion of Seattle. Serving as pallbearers are Burlon Murray, Paul Murray, Cody Hickman, Dale Murray, Alan Davis, Alfred Cole, Hubert Collins, and John Nunez.
He will forever be in our hearts.
