Joel R Langhoff

Joel grew up in Port Arthur, Texas where he learned to hunt, fish, and play baseball with friends and neighbors. During this time Joel also attended St. John’s Lutheran Church and was an active member of the Luther League youth group playing on the youth baseball and basketball teams. It was also at St. John’s where he met Mary (Elaine) Kelsey. After graduating from the Industrial Engineering School at Lamar Tech, Joel and Elaine married on 05-25-1968 and relocated to Clute, Texas where Joel began his working career with Dow Chemical. Joel had many assignments and achievements with Dow including an assignment to Bayonne, New Jersey, Dow Oyster Creek Division, Land Distribution for Texas Operations, and many others that require extensive travel to Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, Southeast Asia, and many other locations.

Along with golf, baseball, and collecting, travel with Elaine and others became one of his many loves. Whether a weekend to the Casino or a week in Keystone, Colorado, Joel and Elaine always had somewhere that they were going. Joel’s favorite thing of all though was his family and his faith. A lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Joel remained humble in service and faithful to his family and worked to provide the very best.

Joel was preceded in death by his mother “Mary Lou” Langhoff-Latimer, Step-Father Robert “Bob” Latimer, Father Rudy Langhoff, In-laws Robert “Bob” and Ruby Kelsey, Brother Richard Langhoff, Brother-in-Law Jimmy Latiolais, and his beloved wife Mary Elaine Langhoff.

Left to carry his memory are Sister Linda Storey (Ed,) sons Bradley Langhoff (Shelley,) Robert Langhoff (Linda,) daughter Kendyl Warren, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and business acquaintances who will all miss him.

Visitation and Services are Thursday, 07-16-2026 beginning at 10 and 11am respectively, St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2227 N Downing Street, Angleton, Tx 77515. A committal service will be held Friday, 07-17-2026 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Hwy, Groves, Tx 77619 at 1PM.
