Katherine Effie Mageors

Katherine (Kathy) Effie Mageors, 75, born February 18, 1950, in Galveston, Texas, to William and Doris Gamblin, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Lake Jackson, TX surrounded by her family. Kathy lived a full and generous life marked by her devotion to her husband, her family and her friends.

Kathy was known for her love of crafting (mostly sewing), cooking, and baking—talents she shared freely with family and friends.

Kathy served the Brazosport ISD community as a secretary at Jane Long Elementary School for more than 30 years. She was committed and loyal to the Jane Long staff and students and always a friendly face in the front office. Outside of work, she was a dedicated sports team mom and a committed baseball concession stand volunteer, always ready to support the activities her children were committed to.

Kathy is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Bobby, sister Linda, and her loving husband Ron, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.

She is survived by her two sons Steven and his wife Teresa, and Tommy and his wife Jodie. Kathy (aka Mammy) was blessed with eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and joy into her life.

A service honoring Kathy’s life will be held on February 3rd at 3:00 PM at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice Foundation of America in Kathy’s memory.
