Kathryn Carol Hutchison

Kathy was born on July 13, 1946, in Alvin, Texas, to James Fulton Wailes and Doris Marie Neel Wailes. She died December 22, 2021, in Lake Jackson, Texas.

She grew up in Alvin, attending Alvin public schools, and graduating from Alvin High School in 1964. Kathy then attended the University of Texas in Austin, majoring in Music Education. She played clarinet in the UT Longhorn Band, and it was there she met Robert William Hutchison, her future husband. They were married on February 19, 1966, and after a short time working at jobs in Austin, they moved to Lake Jackson, Texas.

Anyone who met Kathy knew she loved music and singing. She sang in St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church choir, Houston Symphony Chorus, Houston Masterworks Chorus, Brazosport College Community Chorus, Gulf Coast Masterworks Chorus, the Elizabethan Madrigal Feast, and many theatrical productions in Austin and Brazosport. She also assisted in costuming with her exceptional sewing skills. She always had several projects going, and each of those projects involved helping someone else. Kathy was also a long time member of the Brazosport Symphony League and the Wednesday Review Club.

Along the way, Kathy went back to school and earned an Associate Degree in Engineering Graphics, then put that education to use working at several companies drafting and producing piping and instrument drawings. After her children were graduated from college, she again went back to school and completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of St.Thomas. She then applied that by teaching Kindermusik classes in Lake Jackson for several years.

Kathy is survived by her husband Robert (Bill/Hutch), son Christopher Hutchison, daughter-in-law Andrea, grandsons Carter Hutchison and Keaton Hutchison, daughter Jennifer Stutterheim and son-in-law Dan, grandson Ben Stutterheim, granddaughters Allison Stutterheim and Gracie Stutterheim, and great-grandson Liam Morris.

A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, time yet to be determined. Please make any memorials to either St.Timothy’s Episcopal Church, Lake Jackson, TX, or the Pregnancy Help Center, Lake Jackson.
