Linda Dewitt Neumann

Linda received her MA in Education from the University of Utah, but her true passion from a young age was dancing. She specialized in dance during her studies and spent the next 40 years teaching modern dance to children of all ages. She was never happier than when she was sitting on the floor surrounded by children, sharing her energy, creativity, and love of dance.

Linda met her husband, Bruce Neumann, while attending graduate school in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were married in December 1963 and enjoyed over six decades of happy marriage. After moving to Lake Jackson, Texas, in 1965, they joined the First United Methodist Church, remaining active members for the rest of her life. Linda was always eager to volunteer for everything, ranging from chaperoning youth trips and leading women’s Bible studies to hosting the prayer shawl ministry. Bruce and Linda also spent many years engaged in missionary work, sharing their love of God through prison ministries, the Emmaus Walk, and mission trips to Europe and Africa. Linda always opened her home to anyone in need; it was a fond family joke that the entire town of Lake Jackson knew where the Neumanns kept their spare key—a testament to her incredible spirit of service and generosity.

Linda loved her family above all else. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Neumann; her two daughters, Tammy Lowry (Kevin) and Lori Stacks (Brian); and four grandchildren: Hannah Lowry Griffin (Nathan), Alex Lowry, Kyle Stacks, and Kara Stacks. She was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great-granddaughter, Imogen Griffin, who is due at the end of August. She is further survived by her brother, Michael DeWitt (Martha Bess).

Linda was never one for convention; she was very clear with her family that she wanted a party with "bright colors and balloons" to celebrate her life. We know she is now dancing with Jesus, and we will honor her wishes by holding a Celebration of Life party for her in Lake Jackson, Texas, at the end of October.
