Maria graduated from Brazosport High School in 1961. After graduating, she attended Texas Women’s University to pursue her nursing career & continued her education at Alvin Community College to receive her license as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career working at the Brazosport Memorial Hospital for several years till she expanded her career to work for Dow Chemical Company as a certified Occupational Health Nurse, from which she retired in 1993. After retirement she continued her nursing at home to take care of her daughter, mother, and her late husband. Maria enjoyed a lot of things, such as playing bingo, drawing, painting, and traveling to Mexico.
Maria was preceded in death by her first husband, Ruben R. Lozano. Years after his death, she was married once more to Jose A. Chapa, who passed in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Maria “Mamita” Lozano, parents Moises and Anastasia Rosales.
Maria is survived by her children, Maria Antonia (Ignacio) Fajardo of Clute, Rosa Alvarez (Benito Rios) of Richwood, Ruben Lozano (Liliana Fumero) of Cypress and Adelita (Adan) Ramos of Cleveland. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Regina Samora, Daniella Torres-Alanis, Katarina Lozano, Jose Torres, Gabriella Alvarez, Maria Ramos, Jacob Ramos, Leelanna Garcia, Joshua Ramos, Ruben Lozano, and Emily Lozano. She is also survived by her 6 great-grandchildren.
