

Mary Konvicka Scruggs, 91, of Lake Jackson TX returned to her Heavenly Father on May 28 2016. Mamaw (as Mary was known) was born on March 8 1925 to parents Ignac & Millie Konvicka just outside of Temple TX. Mamaw married James Scott Scruggs in Angleton TX on December 12 1959.
Mamaw moved to Danbury as a small child and she learned early on to love farm life. She spoke only Czech when she started school at Danbury Elementary; where she quickly learned English and made friends – including met her best friend for life, Annie Chovanec. Even in her twilight days she asked about her dear friend Annie.
Mamaw retired after 43 years of dutiful service from the Texas Employment Commission in 1993.
Mamaw is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and Johnny Konvicka; and her beloved daughter Patricia Scruggs.
Mamaw is survived by her devoted husband James Scruggs; daughter Deborah Taylor (husband Darrell); grandson Aaron Tyler; granddaughters Lindsey Tyler and Alyssa Poe; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and other loved ones.
Pallbearers include Aaron Tyler, Ricky Taylor, Shawn Konvicka, Michael Konvicka, John LaFleur, and D.J. Taylor.
The family wishes to extend special appreciation to A-Med Hospice, IPH Hospice, and the staff of Country Village Nursing Home in Angleton.
Visitation of Family and Friends will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on Thursday June 2 2016 at 6pm.
Funeral Services will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on Friday June 3 2016 at 12pm, under the care of Pastor Scott McKay.
Mamaw will then be laid to rest in Restwood Memorial Park.
