

Matthew Harper left this world, surrounded by his loved ones, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at age 43. He lived an amazing life focused on his family being his top priority. Matt was born in Big Spring , TX, on September 1, 1978.
Matt was a man that was always so generous and selfless to anyone that crossed his path. He was a lovely husband to Nora, a devoted father to his daughters Jasmyn and Jocelyn that he completely adored, as well as a caring friend, mentor, coach, and overall a great guy. He was a one of kind man that always offered a hand to help to anyone, even if he didn’t know you. Matt was humble, smart, full of life, sports enthusiast, gym fanatic, and a positive guy, there was never a negative moment with him. Matt grew up in Florida and Texas with his parents and sister Anna Harper. He graduated Angleton High School in 1995. He got an Associates Degree in MTI and another Associates Degree for Process Operator in Brazosport College. Furthermore, he got two licenses in insurance to work part-time in Farmers-Nora Harper Agency. Matt got married to his wife Nora Harper on May 20, 2000, and had two beautiful daughters Jasmyn born in 2002 and Jocelyn born in 2003. In 2003, Matt got a job at Dow as a Distribution Operator. He worked his way up throughout the years to Product Planning Coordinator at Olin. He has been awarded several awards for his service in Dow and Olin. Matt was an intelligent man; he always had a strategic plan for everything. He enjoyed anything to do with sports, whether it be going to games or coaching his daughters teams. He was very passionate in fitness, constantly being at Evolution Fitness Gym where he always spent every day of the week working out. In Matt’s last years, he grew fond of powerlifting to where he wanted to get into competing. For years Matt has worked hard to reach his goals in lifting, inspiring his friends and daughters. On April 10, 2021, Matt competed in his first Strongman Competition at New Braunfels, TX. His performance was outstanding, he placed in top 10 out of 20+ people! Matt was getting ready to compete again in October at San Marcos, TX, for his second competition before his passing.
He is survived by his wife Nora Harper, his daughters Jasmyn Harper and Jocelyn Harper, his sister Anna Harper and niece Toni, his mother-in-law Adela Ruiz, his sister-in-law Maria J. Perez, Olga Ruiz, his nieces Alexis Perez, Maggie Ruiz, his nephew Gabriel Perez, his aunt Linda Sims and husband Mike Sims, Nancy Russell and husband Wayne Russell, his cousins Leigha Randol, Todd Randol, Tia Becerra, Kristy Harper, Linda Trombley, Dean Russell, and many others.
Visitation will take place at Restwood Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, and the funeral will take place at Restwood Funeral Chapel at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25.
