Nell Dorsett passed over to God’s Kingdom on February 27, 2013 following a battle with COPD. She was born April 19, 1930 in Uvalde, Texas to Verna and Elmer Cox and moved with her family to Lake Jackson at the age of 13. She was a 1947 graduate of Freeport High School and then went to work for DOW Chemical Company. Nell married Charles Dorsett on November 20, 1948. She became a professional housewife and mom after the birth of her first child. Once her children were in high school, she went to work part-time for Sears Catalog Center moving on to work in the administrative office for Sears at Brazos Mall until she retired. Besides loving her husband, Charles, with all her heart, Nell’s greatest joy in her life was her children, Jerial, Verna and Melinda. She was a devoted, generous and loving mother instilling the same values in those she loved. We will miss her with all of our hearts and souls. We have great peace in knowing that while caring for her husband during his illness, she accepted Jesus Christ into her heart & soul without a doubt. Nell loved mowing her yard, reading and feeding her squirrels and birds. She is survived by her children, Jerial Dorsett and his wife Kathy, Verna Dorsett Davis and her husband Chuck, Melinda Dorsett Herns and her husband Marc; brother, Steve Cox; 5 grandchildren, Chuck Dorsett, Dawn Ann Shaw, Jarrod Dorsett, Andrea Cheeseman, Ty Davis and 7 great grand children. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Elmer & Verna Cox; her loving husband, Charles Dorsett; brothers, Elmer “Red” Cox and Deryle Cox. “If there was one word to describe our Mom, it would be LOVE. What could be a greater gift to us than that?”
