Born on May 7, 1944, to Lee and Lorena Moses. Paul spent his early years in Refugio, TX, Arkansas, and Luling, TX where he ran around with his cousins. Paul served his country in the Army Reserves after graduating from High School and when he returned to Refugio, he worked for Titan Perforators. He later went on to work for Humble Oil which later became Exxon, the company he was with for his entire career.
While in Refugio, he met Trena, the love of his life and his lifelong best friend. After a short 3-month courtship, they married in December 1965 and started a family while living in Premont, TX, with the arrival of daughter Sue Ella Moses and then son Wade Moses.
Paul was a devoted family man and always took a keen interest in the lives of his immediate and extended family. He and Trena adored their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids and warmly welcomed the outside additions to the Moses clan, loving everyone unconditionally. “Paw Paw” and “Maw Maw” never missed a baseball, basketball, softball game, or tennis match and attended Grandparents’ Day and performances to show their support at every opportunity. Paul often made his grand- and great-granddaughters giggle uncontrollably as earrings dangled off his ears during a good game of “Pretty Pretty Princess.” In retirement, he loved to work with wood, whittling and carving. He made flutes, crosses, a ukulele for his granddaughter, roosters, birds, tree spirits, and other ornaments that decorate the homes of his loved ones. He shared a love for the guitar with his grandson, with whom he enjoyed strumming a tune and continuing to learn to play. He also loved to entertain his great grandkids by showing them how to make and fly paper airplanes.
Paul was active in his church for many years and kept his faith in God as the bedrock of his life. Paw Paw loved his family fiercely and together with Maw Maw supported them generously with their time and dedication to each other, to their family, and to God.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Lorena Moses, stepmother Elaine Moses, brother Larry Patteson and by his beloved wife Trena. He is survived by his sisters, LaNell Moses Wright, Marilyn Moses Estes (Todd), brothers Steven Moses and Byron Patteson (Ann), children Sue Moses Scott (David), and Wade Moses (Wendy), granddaughters Caitlin Scott Cartwright (Skyler), and Abby Moses, grandson Weston Scott, and great grands Lily, Breelynn, and Noah Cartwright.
