Peggy was born on March 29, 1950, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She grew up in Richmond, Texas, and graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1968. Later, she graduated from the University of Houston Clear Lake with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and her master’s degree in library science. Peggy became a teacher and later an elementary librarian where she served school children for many years. She often dressed up in costume to celebrate a particular author. She made reading fun by making books come alive! Her passion was working with children including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She could be found throughout the years at any of the numerous sporting events supporting her kids and grandkids.
After her retirement, she and Howard travelled the United States with a travel trailer. They enjoyed seeing the country and connecting with family. Between their longer cross-country trips, they travelled to festivals, reunions, and family vacations. Peggy was camping in San Marcos when she had her first stroke.
Peggy was known for her love of life. She was the life of any party, ready to play a card game or set up a ping pong tournament in a heartbeat. She took pride in creating a warm and welcoming home whether cooking for two or 42 people. She was also a confidante to her family and friends. She would listen without judgement and share her wisdom or lend a shoulder to cry on. She was a true friend to so many.
Peggy is preceded in death by her former husband, Samuel Lee Price; her mother Minnie Clay; and her father Jimmy Joe Jennings.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 30 years, Howard Frank Cain, of Clute; her brother Mike Jennings, of Angleton; her uncle Junior Moore and wife, Hazel of Graham, Texas; and uncle Carl Moore and wife, Carol, of Mena, Arkansas; her children and their spouses, James Price and wife, Lina, of Clute, Jason Price, and wife Karee, of Lake Jackson, Ryan Joyce and wife, Meredith, of Rockwall, Texas, Josh Cain and wife Crystal, of Lake Jackson, Laura Cain, and wife Damaris, of St. Louis, Missouri, Samuel Price, Jr. and husband, Raymond, of Trinity, Texas; her grandchildren, Wyatt, Walker, & Weston Price, Jessine Roberson and fiancé, Ty Keith, Katelyn, Gracie & Colton Price, Britton, Caroline & Asher Joyce, Devyn Bertolino, Hunter Cain, MaKayla Giovane, and husband, Victor; her great-grandchildren, J. Peggy always gave of herself through laughter and love. She was a gift to family, friends, and strangers she met on the beach. She will be hugely missed but never forgotten.
