Philip Wayne McGraw

Phil graduated from Jeff Davis High school in 1962 and shortly after joined the United States Army, serving with the 101st Airborne from 1962 to 1965. He then went on to study at the University of Houston; graduating in 1970 with a degree in Chemistry. Phil then went to work for Dow Chemical, and spent more than thirty years working as a Research and Development Chemist until his retirement in 2005. In 1981, Phil married Doris Mae Powers, and they spent 28 years together until her passing in 2009.

Phil had an extensive list of interesting hobbies throughout his life. He spent several years flying planes, and enjoyed scuba diving and deep-sea fishing. As his family grew, his interest became travelling with his wife and kids through the national parks and several international trips as well. Into retirement, he became involved with vintage Chevys, and loved spending time with his car club. He was fun loving and adventurous, and his family will miss him terribly.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Doris Mae McGraw. Surviving Phil in life are his brother Michael Larry McGraw and two daughters, Erin Webster with husband Scott, and Shelby Johnson with husband Jared along with their children, Phil’s grandchildren, Lylah, Kiley, and Elena.

A visitation of friends and family will be held at Restwood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson, TX on Tuesday July 28 2015 from 6pm to 8pm.

Philip Wayne McGraw will be laid to rest next to his wife on Wednesday July 29 2015 at 10am in Bath Community Cemetery located per Google maps at 5125 FM 1374 Rd Huntsville, TX.
