

Phyllis was a founding member of Lake Jackson Church of the Nazarene and the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene in Lake Jackson, Texas. She shared her many gifts with the church; working as secretary, singing in the choir, playing the organ, cooking her famous meatloaf and participating in numerous church outreach activities including work and witness mission trips.
Phyllis had a lifelong love of crafts, including ceramics, painting, sewing and quilting. She owned a ceramic and gift shop in downtown Lake Jackson for several years. She was a master quilter and used her workshop to make quilts for family, friends and many fundraisers.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Norma Butts; and her brother, Wayne Butts.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of over 60 years, James; and her children Danny Bertram and wife Carol of Cedar Park, Texas and Susie Vickers and husband Andy of Seattle, Washington; her grandchildren Heather Harris and husband Michael, Jason Vickers, Keith Bertram and Travis Vickers; and great granddaughter Autumn Marie Bertram. She is survived by her sisters Donna Truitt and Melva Willis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene in Lake Jackson, Texas on Thursday, February 10th, at 12 pm with visitation before the service at 11 am. A graveside service will follow at Restwood Memorial Park at 1038 W. Plantation Drive, Clute, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Phyllis Memorial Fund at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene in Lake Jackson, Texas.
