Rachel Mae McCleary

Born on January 18, 1940, in Freeport, TX, Rachel was the 10th of 12 children. She graduated from Brazosport High School in 1958.

Rachel married her high school sweetheart, Jeff McCleary, on August 15, 1959. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She was a devoted mother to three children: Michael, Alicia, and Derrick; and a proud grandmother to 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who were the light of her life.

Rachel was known for her warm heart, quick wit, and unwavering faith in God. She was active in her church and never missed a chance to witness her faith. Right up to her last words, she spoke of miracles that God has and can perform.

She is survived by her children, Michael McCleary (Michelle), Alicia Blinka (David), and Derrick McCleary (Jodi); her grandchildren, Kristen, Matthew, Ryan, Brandon, Bryan, Stefani, Ryan, Dax, John, and Maya, and her siblings, Robert, Kelsey, Inez, and Patsy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff McCleary; her parents, Curtis and Lottie Pate; her siblings, Vestul Pate, Iva Nell Brown, Billie Mullins, Sam Pate, Charles Pate, Test Miller, and Curtis "Bo" Pate.

A visitation for Rachel will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Restwood Funeral Home,1038 W. Plantation Dr., Clute, TX 77531. A a celebration of rachel's life will immediately follow at 3:00 PM. The committal will then occur at 4:00 P.M. at Restwood Memorial Park.
