

Born in Freeport to Anita and Celestino Damian, Rene was a lifelong resident of Brazoria County who proudly called Freeport home. He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1980, where he earned the distinctions of Mr. BHS and Most Likeable. He went on to attend Texas A&M University, graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Rene dedicated his life to his family, profession, and community. Early in his career, he worked alongside his father at Damian & Associates in Freeport, Texas, as a Registered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Land Surveyor. He later embarked on a distinguished career with The Dow Chemical Company, serving in numerous engineering and environmental operations roles. During his tenure with Dow, he received the Enabling Customer Success Award and was further honored when the Oyster Creek Division freshwater canal pipe bridge was dedicated as the "Rene Damian Pipe Bridge" in recognition of his distinguished career as a civil engineer. Rene retired from Dow in March 2026 after nearly 26 years of dedicated service. He was admired by colleagues for his technical expertise, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Outside of work, Rene's happiest moments were spent with his family. He especially loved taking Sandra on trips to scenic locations, enjoying the beauty of Texas, coastal views, and memorable meals together. These simple adventures reflected his appreciation for life's special moments and the deep love he had for his wife and family. He also found joy in yard work, celebrating the accomplishments of his children, and supporting his other loved ones as they participated in youth sports.
Rene was preceded in death by his parents, Anita and Celestino Damian.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Sandra Damian; his children, Christian Damian, Jared (Kinsey) Damian, and Lauren Damian; his sister, Estella (Nick) Aluizo; his brothers, Ronald (Mariza) Damian and Phillip Damian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute, Texas. Visitation will take place on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Restwood Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Damian, Ronald Damian, Ronald Damian Jr., Ben Damian, Christopher Lopez, Mark Fernandez, and Andrew Damian.
Rene will be remembered for his integrity, dedication, leadership, and deep devotion to his family. Throughout his life, he touched countless people as a loving husband, devoted father, respected engineer, trusted mentor, and loyal friend. His generosity, wisdom, and steadfast presence enriched the lives of those around him, leaving a lasting impression that will not be forgotten. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him
