Richard Olivares, age 61, was born December 26, 1964, and passed away on September 10, 2026. A resident of Angleton, Texas, Richard will be remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and faithful purpose.
An Army Veteran, Richard carried himself with the discipline and resolve of one who understood duty and service. In the years that followed, that same grounded spirit was evident in the way he lived—consistent, dependable, and guided by convictions that did not waver.
Richard found joy in simple, meaningful pursuits: time spent fishing, days at the beach, and an appreciation for music—especially in playing the drums. He also enjoyed guns, and he expressed his faith through writing Bible devotionals, offering words shaped by reflection and reverence. As a member of Central Assembly of God Church, where he also acted as security, Richard’s life was closely tied to worship and community, and his faith remained a steady foundation. He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved companion, Maximus.
Richard is survived by his mother, Amie Olivares of Corpus Christi, Texas; his wife, Erma Olivares; his brother, Daniel Olivares (Rosie); his sister, Debra Gonzales (Victor); his daughters, Tatiana Phillips (Steve) and Lissette Cruz; and his son, John Aguilar (Aleyda). He greatly loved all of his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Ovidio Olivares of Corpus Christi, Texas.
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes it's boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me out of all my fears. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints. There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
"My dearest Erma, my love, what could I have done for the Lord to give you to me. In all my pains and suffering I look to you and see your strength and trust in the Lord. Truly we are one in this life, come what may. You give my heart peace, my soul rest. I am comforted with you just being with me. I would have surely lost my hope if you were not by my side fighting with me, encouraging me, taking me to the Lord. For you, I strive to be a good man, a man worthy of you. May the Lord bless you for being good to a man like me. We have been in the valley for so long, but one day we will be on the mountain top with the Glory of the Lord shining upon us both. I love you am I am yours forever. I pray that's a good thing." ~ Richard Olivares
