Rodney was born on January 1, 1947, in Waldo, Arkansas to the late Melvin Wayne Morton and Annie Laura Morton.
Rodney dedicated 27 years of his career to Dowell Schlumberger before retiring at the age of 52. Retirement didn’t slow him down, however. He later worked for Prime Equipment for a short time and enjoyed spending his retirement raising cattle and goats and tending his garden.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Eliska I. Morton; his parents; his brother, Keith Morton; and his daughter, Morina Michelle Jacobson.
Rodney’s greatest legacy is the family he loved so deeply. He is survived by his children: Luke Powell and his wife, Monica; Laura Landrum; Brenna Wilbanks; Neal Morton and his wife, Lois; Lynnette Peña and her husband, Rick; Bobbie Powell; and Luke Morton and his wife, Anne.
Rodney was a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his brothers, Leon Morton and his wife, Nancy, and Wayne Morton and his wife, Becky.
Though a man of few words, Rodney’s quiet strength, steady guidance, and unwavering work ethic spoke for him. His smile came most easily when surrounded by the youngest members of his family, and he will be remembered for his love, guidance, and strength.
A celebration of Rodney’s life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Restwood Memorial Funeral Home and Park. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow.
