

Ruben Dario Santos, Sr., of Clute, Texas, was born August 18, 1936 in Rodriquez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Ignacio and Dolores Alvarado Santos and he died October 17, 2011 at his home in Clute, Texas, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 29 days. Ruben worked for B. I. S. D, Champion Beers, Alamo Trucking, Gulf States and from 1996 until 2006 he worked for Swift Couriers. He had many hobbies and among them was raising game roosters and deer hunting, but his greatest passion was playing the Texas Lottery. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. Ruben is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jose Maria Santos and Enrique Santos. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eva (Cruz) Santos of Clute; sons, Ruben D. Santos, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Richwood, Henry Santos and his wife Nora of Sweeny; daughter, Carolyn A. Alvarado and her husband Mike of Richwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley M. Santos of Richwood, Lance Corporal David C. Alviar, stationed at Camp Lejune, North Carolina, Aaron Santos of Sweeny, Alex Santos of Sweeny, Christina Duran of Sweeny, Clayton Alvarado of Angleton, Cory Alvarado of Waco and numerous nieces and nephews. The Santos family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to: IPH Healthcare and IPH Hospice for their care and compassion during the last couple of months of Ruben’s life; three special friends whom he looked forward to their visits, Amos Herrera, Lawrence Cabrera and Paul Soto; his caregivers, Maria Ibarra, Adolf Delgado, Elva Carrasco, Monica Martinez and Korina Barnett. The family would also like to publicly thank Ruben’s son-in-law, Mike Alvarado for the loving care he gave to their husband and father.
