Martha Sue Wood, 80, joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 29, 2021. She was born September 9, 1940, to R.T. and Bessie Hutchins in Tyler, Texas. When she was nine years old her family moved to Clute, Texas, where her dad worked for Dow Chemical. After graduating from Brazosport High School in 1960, she went to work for the Retail Merchants Association in Freeport, Texas. Norman and Sue married on March 23, 1963, and relocated to Killeen, Texas. A little over a year later they returned to Lake Jackson where they would soon start their family. Sue and Norman decided she would stay at home to raise their children. In later years she was employed by BISD in Food Services. In 1988, Sue joined forces with her husband, building a successful Home Medical Equipment Supply Company. She was a member of the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church Lake Jackson.
Sue was a woman who was respected by many and loved by all. Sue was wise and instilled in her children that they always have a choice and to choose what matters.
She cherished her marriage, family, and friendships. Sue was a lady of many talents and hobbies which included arts and craft, sewing, ceramics, and quilting. She was revered for her exquisite cooking abilities and love for hosting family gatherings and other events. Sue loved to capture precious moments, as you would never find her around family and friends without a camera in her hand. She enjoyed traveling via motorcycle for over 25 years exploring the United States, Mexico, and Canada with Norman and other members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Unforgettable memories, special bonds and lifelong friendships were formed. Norman and Sue later traded in their two-wheel ride for a Red Thunderbird Convertible and continued their passion for travelling.
