I’m QD’s and Deane’s youngest daughter. I loved listening to Aunt Verlene’s stories of her travels. I didn’t get the chance to see her very often but I thought she was an amazing woman!

I will miss my grandma tremendously, but I know she will always be with me in my heart. She was a loving and wise woman. Her laugh was contagious and so was her smile.I will miss holding her hand cuddling up next to her while she watches her CNN. I will miss her stories from when she grew up . I will miss her hugs and her voice telling me that she loved me. But I know she is free from pain and she is being her social butterfly self. Bringing joy to everyone around her. She had a passion for birds and elephants. So now every time I see one I will think of her. My memories of her I will hold tight to my heart. I love you Grandma!

Aunt Verlene always made me laugh! We were getting ready for Pat and Stan's wedding when she said "I found the best perfume the other day." I smelled it and read the label. I explained that while it did smell good, it was Aramis for men! She shrugged her shoulders and told me she was going to wear it anyway. A few dabs behind her ears and some on my wrist for good measure! Then off to the church we went. I love that smell to this day. She was her own woman,a world traveler, a wonderful wife, a loving mother and she will be missed!

Mom Heady loved people and people loved her. She was so very proud of her family, with 13 brothers and sisters she had quite a large family. She just loved to visit and share stories.
I will never forget going to meet her mom, Grandma Pollard, for the first time in Mississippi. There were so many people in her house and I got to meet all of them. She would make a pie for each of them. We laughed and told stories for hours. What mattered most was that moment and our being together.
Mom loved all of us and she spoke fondly of all of you. She will be missed and live on in our hearts.

I have so many wonderful memories of my wonderful Aunt Verlene. My mom was always so happy whenever she would visit, and they would stay up all night talking. Much love to the family.

I always loved when Aunt Verlene would visit. She and my mom, her sister Mary, would sit up late talking until the wee hours of the morning. I’m so thankful I was able to be present for those talks and now have those memories to last a lifetime. Sending all my love to the family. You all hold a very special place in my heart.
