

Margaret Virginia Winship Jordan (Ginny) passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026 at the age of 93. Born on April 25, 1932 in Calallen, TX, to Wilfred La Delle Winship and Margaret McGahhey Winship, Ginny went to high school in Corpus Christi, TX, and briefly attended Southern Methodist University. She married William Curtis Jordan (Bill) in September, 1950. They were married for 64 years. Bill and Ginny settled in Lake Jackson, TX, in 1956, where they raised their large family. Ginny received her degree in Education from the University of Houston while raising her 6 children.
Ginny was active in the local community, her church, and in the Brazosport Independent School District. She was a Cub Scout, Brownie, and Girl Scout leader. She taught Sunday School at First United Methodist Church and led the children’s choir for a time. She supported the establishment of Brazosport Cares and with her husband, Bill, founded the Food Basket, now operating as the Interfaith Food Bank. She loved to sing, and sang in the United Methodist Church and Chapelwood Choirs for many years. For several years, she performed as a cast member in Brazosport Center Stage musical productions.
Ginny was an ardent watercolor artist, producing hundreds of pieces and showing her work at local art shows. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to IEEE conferences and to visit her children and grandchildren in Texas and around the country.
She is remembered by her loved ones as being devoted to her family, tireless in her efforts to support others, always with a song in her heart and on her lips, forever optimistic and energetic (The Little Engine That Could), and occasionally somewhat impatient.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Jordan; her parents, her sister, LaDelle Tuley, her brothers, Dan Winship, Doug Winship, Ashley Winship, and son-in-law, Ricky Quarles. She is survived by sisters, Andrea Gibbud and Gratia Winship; her six children, Curtis Jordan (Pam), Milyn Jordan, Elaine Montier (Tommy), Beth Quarles, Loyd Jordan (Terri), Charles Jordan (Shannon); her eighteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, January 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation Dr, Clute, TX 77531. Graveside Service at Restwood Memorial Park Friday, January 23rd, 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Interfaith Food Bank, Interfaith Food Bank Inc. dba The Food Basket | 1 Wesley Drive | Clute, TX 77531.
