OCTOBER 5, 1916-DECEMBER 29, 2014
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of our dear mother, sister and grandmother Anita Anciso Urbina. She died holding my hand on the morning of December 29, 2014 in my home in Coalinga, CA while I was giving her a breathing treatment, telling me she loves me.
Mom was born on October 5, 1916, to Aniceto and Petra Anciso in Mercedes, Texas. She was raised on a ranch with her four siblings maria, Felicitas, Juan and Anciso. She met our dad, the late Paz Urbina Sr., while they were having a Fiesta at the ranch, dancing the night away. They were married on November 11, 1934 and had 12 children, Juanita Ortiz, Modesta Gonzalez, Abel Urbina, Zaneida, Paz Urbina Jr.,
Olivia Rivero, Alfredo, Juan and Maria; three deceased: Lydia, Elidia and Roberto.
After they married, they made their new home in Progreso, Texas, living there most of our lives. In 1966 dad decided California had better opportunities for all of us. We ended up in Huron, California, at a labor camp doing seasonal farm work. Years later, we made Coalinga our home.
Mom was a very strong and strict woman with us kids. Dad was always reminding us to watch ourt for mom. She was the one wearing the pants, so to speak! But she was an excelent cook, making everthing from scratch. Best tortillas and tamales ever!
We will miss our beautiful mother dearly. Thanks mom for coming into my life. Love you. Rest in peace, till we meet again.
Gracefully, Sandy Douglass.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband Paz Sr., son Roberto and daughter Lydia and Elida, brothter Juan and sister Felicitas. Our mom will be buried with her husband Paz Sr., at Coalinga's cemetery on Friday, January 16, 2015. Services will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Viewing: 9:00, Rosary 9:30 Mass: 10:00 am, following burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
