

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 am for Pioneer Lady Clorene M. Akers. Clo passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 102 years old.
Clo was born on May 12, 1914 in Selma to Curtis and Edna Cook. Clo marrried Herman Akers on June 14, 1931 in Coalinga. They moved to their homestead in Los Gatos Canyon at the Akers Ranch. Later, they moved to another homestead along the San Benito River belonging to Levi Akers, where Clo has lived for 85 years.
Clo was a great cook, her door always swung into a meal. She was also a piano player, sewed western shirts, poisoned squirrels, horseback for San Benito County, owned Picacho’s Trading Post & Saloon. She was a weather reporter for the US Government for 75 years. Her biggest achievement was being a mother and a wife for 57 years
Clo is survived by her daughter, Marion Akins of Farmington, her son Leroy Akers of Corcoran and daughter Nancy Morris of Coalinga, 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Clo was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Edna Cook, her husband Herman Akers, her son Burt Akers, her grandson Billy Akers, her sisters Imy King & Eleanor Morris and her brother Buster Cook.
