

Dewie is survived by his loving wife Helen Lorraine Brown (Battles), and children Debra Ann Larsen, Patricia and Dennis Scroggins, Ricky Leroy and Darla Kay Brown, and Ronald Lee and Paula Diane Brown, siblings Vernon Leroy and Lois Brown, Juanita Reed, and Donald Ray and Caroline Brown, eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. .
He was preceded in death by his parents - longtime residents of Coalinga - Mable May and James Newton Brown, and siblings, Zethel Faye, William Brown, Ethel May and Carmel Breadmont, and Kenny and Joann Brown, and his grandson Ralph Neal Crabtree. Dewie’s mother always said that she wasn’t sure how to identify the state in which he was born, as her head was in Moark, Missouri and her bottom in Corning, Arkansas. The birth certificate states Corning, Arkansas.
Dewie was a loving, quiet man with a strong commitment to family and friends. He always made sure his family was taken care of, especially his wife of 62 years, Helen. They modeled the strength of a loving marriage for their four children and will be remembered for this love. Dewie grew up in Coalinga and spent many years working at the bowling alley and in the Coalinga oilfields. In addition to bowling, he enjoyed many sports, which included scuba diving, archery, fishing, and hunting. He shared these activities with his brothers, sons, and friends. He and Helen loved to travel and spent many years in their motorhome and boat. They raised all their children in Coalinga, and while having moved to other places over the years, they most recently returned to Coalinga. Dewie will be missed and always very lovingly remembered by his wife and family.
A memorial service will be held July 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Christian Fellowship Church, 450 West Elm, Coalinga, CA.
