Sonnet XV: THE FRUITS OF MY LIFE

'Tis always the season to a garden tend:
To ease a darling bud into the sun,
To find each tender broken bough to mend,
To expunge all weeds, lest they wild run,
For equal seedlings meet unequal fates;
The winds and storms of life do strain their lot,
Producing growth in grossly different rates,
But avoided by a gardener wisely taught.
My garden thrives upon once barren land
Which many lifetimes ago did I toil
To aid the plotted blooms to withstand
The gusts and restock with their seeds the soil.
Even past the twilight of my hour,
Does blossom my garden's flower's flower.

Hi Susana,

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing.  While I didn't know him well, he was always kind to me.  I remember the last time I saw him which was for Joe's HS graduation (seems so long ago).  It was so good to connect with him again at that time.  It's hard losing a father; I still miss mine and can't believe it's already been two full years.  I can't imagine losing my mom which you've gone through as well.  Even though it's the normal circle of life thing, it still hurts. 

I was hoping the service was last weekend as Linda and I would have attended (Joe told me your family didn't want to postpone his cousin's wedding and that certainly makes sense).  Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it tomorrow  my department has a full two day planning event for the next fiscal year and it is mandatory.  Duty calls, unfortunately.

Hope all is well with you and I will be thinking of you and your family tomorrow.

Alberto was a fine engineer.  He worked with me at KSC on the shuttle program. I'll always remember his smile and quiet competence.
