ANNE WAXMAN
June 23, 1916 - November 27, 2010.
The human heart longs, above all else, to be loved. Not in an idealized, abstract or overly-focused way, but in an honest, warmth-when-it's-cold sort of way. Real love sees flaws, and loves as is. Anne gave only real love, and she gave it abundantly.
Her children, Judy, Carol, Jonny and Bernard, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and anyone near her would give the same account, as she and her love were always the same. In all her roles, Annie didn't just give what was needed, she was what was needed.
An original frugal gourmet, a terrific baker, a crocheter/knitter, a wise counselor, a reader, an athlete, a thinker, and, above all, kind, she was a source of comfort to one and all. A natural homemaker, she upheld tradition, but never seemed enslaved to it, always her own person.
Annie was not perfect, but one of the most exacting of men, her late husband of 69 years, Sonny, thought that she was, indeed, very near to it. Only Annie would have argued.
Thank you for everything, Mom. We love you more than words can say.
