

Bruce D. Todd of Cocoa, Florida, whose close friends and relatives lovingly referred to him as Bucky, passed away at the age of 72 on January 1st, 2015. He was born on November 11th, 1942 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Robert Todd and Ruth Decker (Walker). Bruce spent most of his life in New Jersey, where he met then married his wife Judith Schmelz in 1968. They have been married 46 years, and have 3 sons, and one daughter.
Bruce worked in parts, sales and then was general manager for several Ford dealerships in New Jersey and California. During his 25 years of service, he earned several trips and awards from Ford Motor Company for his knowledge and expertise. In 1988, Bruce and his family moved to Florida where he became an entrepreneur operating his own restaurant “Bucky’s” for 6 years in Frontenac, Florida. Later, he took a position with Kel Tec/Brevard Robotics where he enjoyed his work and the people he met throughout his 14 years of service, retiring in 2012.
Bruce had many interests throughout his life. He always had a passion for old and antique cars. He enjoyed going to car shows as well as attending and watching auto racing. He also enjoyed taking family trips to go camping and fishing, and was active in the Boy Scouts for 10 years with his three sons. He loved being outdoors gardening, doing yard work and sometimes simply watching the birds. His children of course were his major interest; always participating in any hobby, sport, activity or project his children were involved in.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ruth. He is survived by his wife Judith Schmelz Todd, his sons David, Christopher and Jonathan, daughter Cathleen, and two grandchildren David (6) and Emersyn (2). Bruce is also survived by his siblings Robert Todd, Sharon McIver, John Todd, Brenda Fritz, Nancy Gano, and his very large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Those who knew Bruce knew that he was always quick with a joke or story to keep everyone laughing. He was a great man with a giant personality, who made an impact on every person he met. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday January 16, 2015 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be 10:30am Saturday January 17, 2015 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home.
