

Charles was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, but spent the majority of his life in Suffield, Connecticut. He entered into service with the United States Army in 1943, earning the title of Staff Sergeant on the 301st Signal Operation Battalion before being discharged in 1946. He worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company for 42 years. After retiring, he moved to Titusville, Florida where he spent the remainder of his life. Charles was heavily involved in the community. He was a member of two different masonic lodges and the American Legion. He was an avid race car fan and spent many years building and racing midget race cars. His other hobbies included refurbishing and flying airplanes, playing the organ, big band music and dancing. Charles is predeceased by his first wife, Doris (Boysen) Gardner, and his second wife, Nola (Wight) Gardner. He us survived by his two sons, Kent Gardner (Katie) and Steven Gardner (Brenda); grandchildren Jillian Belanger (Kirk), and Nathan Gardner; and great grandson Augustin Belanger.
A Celebration of Charles's life will be held at Temple Baptist Church in Titusville, on Friday, March 18th at 10:00am.
