David Walter Macko of Titusville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at the age of 82. After several months of declining health, David died peacefully with his grandchildren, Steven and Crystal, by his side.
David was born March 6, 1939 in Barbarton, Ohio son of the late Walter J. and Theresa J. (Kroska) Macko. The oldest of three children, David served in the Navy for 2 years from 1957 to 1959.
After returning home, David helped run the family restaurant/motel business called “Macko’s”, located in Bellwood, Florida. After selling the family business, he spent some time as an insurance agent and then as a bus driver for Brevard County Schools, until he retired. David was an avid bass fisherman and tabletop shuffleboard player, winning many awards. He also loved playing cards and shrimping.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Roy of Jonesborough, TN; son Michael Macko; grandson Steven Macko and great granddaughter Kahlan Macko of Port St. John, FL; granddaughter Crystal Rutland of Tallahassee, FL; granddaughter Kimberly Burney of Jefferson, SC; brother Dennis Macko of Scio, Ohio; and sister Nancy Thomason of Bryson City, NC.
A viewing is planned for Friday, August 20, 2021 from 1 pm to 2 pm at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sharpes, Florida. The funeral mass will immediately follow at 2 pm. Graveside service will be located at Brevard Memorial Park in Cocoa, Florida. All are invited to attend.
