Dave was proceeded in death by his first wife, Shirley Keith Malone. He is survived by their three children, Pat Malone, Sara Malone, and Nancy Issenberg (Steven);
two grandsons, Jason Chumley (Sarah) and David Haynes (Noriko), and four great grandsons and a great granddaughter. He also has two living brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his second wife, Alma Watson Malone, who he married in 1985. Alma’s children and grandchildren affectionately regard him as a family member. They are: Gloria Muse (Lonnie), and their three children and grandchildren. Donald Watson, (Diane), and their two children and grandchildren. Alma’s son, Elbert, proceeded Dave in death, and is survived by his daughter and granddaughter.
Dave was too young for active duty when the US entered WWII. Graduating from high school at 17, he trained as a welder, and then joined the Merchant Marines, serving throughout the war years. After the war he attended the University of Kansas, and joined the United States Air Force.
Dave worked as a technical instructor and writer for the USAF, and after retirement he continued this type of work at Kennedy Space Center. Dave won two coveted Snoopy Awards for his work with the Space Program.
Dave has a deep faith in God, and was an active member of King Street Baptist Church from 1963 until he was no longer able to attend services. He served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years.
Dave will be remembered for his dedication to every task, and his sense of humor and gentle spirit.
Services will be held at King Street Baptist Church in Cocoa, FL. Visitation will be Friday November 16, 2018 from 10-11AM with service to follow at 11AM. Interment will be at Brevard Memorial Park following church services.
