Born on December 8, 1932, in Havana, Cuba, Esther was the beloved daughter of Manuel and Herminia Lopez. She had a deep passion for gardening and was an exceptional cook and seamstress. Her creativity and skill were evident in all she did. A proud member of the Lions Club in Newark, New Jersey, Esther was also a devoted Catholic who treasured her faith and the time spent with her family.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing dominoes and bingo, watching game shows like The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune, and living near the ocean, which she dearly loved. Esther never missed a day without a sip of espresso and was always polished and put together, no matter the occasion. She was happiest when sharing her culinary creations with family, friends, and neighbors.
Before retiring to Florida in 1998, Esther was a successful business owner in the clothing industry. She married the love of her life, Constantino Ablanedo, on June 7, 1952. Fittingly, they were reunited on what would have been their 73rd wedding anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Constantino Ablanedo.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Esther Ablanedo, and son-in-law, Brian DiLonardo; her son, Carlos Ablanedo and predeceased daughter-in-law Linda Susan Ablanedo; and her cherished grandchildren: Norelle Johnston (Correy Ryan), Carina Nichole Jaffe (Andrew Bernard), Daniel Ablanedo (Jennie), and Jesse Alexander DiLonardo. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Flora Celeste and Reef Wilder Johnston, and Laina and Logan Ablanedo. Esther is fondly remembered by many extended family members and friends.
