A native of New Orleans, LA, George served in the Navy during the Korean War, and played trumpet in the Navy band. He graduated with honors from LSU with a degree in Physics, then moved to Florida in the early 1960‘s. After a long career as an electrical engineer, George retired from Harris Corporation as a Lead Design Engineer.
Curious by nature, he was fascinated to discover how things worked, and was a tinkerer and amateur inventor. He maintained his quick wit, and his joy in playing the piano, to the very end. Most of all, he delighted in spending time with his family. “Papa George” was a warm, generous host to all; a sweet, appreciative husband; an attentive, interested father; and a tender, kind grandfather. Happy to be of service, he wholeheartedly gave of his talents, money and time; and he lived the deep faith he practiced regularly at Calvary Chapel, MI.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Lynn Begault; daughter, Laura Begault (Richard Owen) of Melbourne, FL; son, Darrell Begault (Angela) of Tallahassee, FL; and brother, Rudolph Begault (Phyllis) of Metairie, LA. He is also survived by 5 stepchildren: Gayle Lacy (Jess), Kent McLaughlin (Suze Lindsay), Sue Perez (Tom), David McLaughlin (Peggy), Rob McLaughlin (Glenda), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
